About Functional Neurology

Applied Kinesiology

  • Applied Kinesiology (AK) Understanding the brain & body connection. The brain controls the muscles. Tension on the ligaments and tendons tells the brain how to change the muscles’ contraction.

  • Applied Kinesiology (AK) is a method of diagnosing and treating a variety of functional illnesses by observing the muscles of the body and identifying locations wherein muscle weakness is prevalent. AK uses several approaches when performing a functional assessment, such as manual muscle testing, posture, gait analysis, range of motion, motion analysis, functional neurologic evaluation, and static palpitation.

  • The basic concept of AK is that when an organ malfunctions, it directly affects a particular muscle group causing them to weaken. This relationship is referred to as a “viscerosomatic relationship.” Therefore, by identifying muscles weakness through functional assessments, such as manual muscle testing and other standard AK tests, and combining them with the results of standard medical diagnostic methods, the failing organ can be identified and treated.

pDTR (propriorective deep tendon reflex)

  • Every muscle contraction is controlled by the brain & different receptors in the body give the brain information to change homeostatic functions. Nocireceptors control pain.

  • P-DTR is a technique that allows us to assess where the dysfunctional receptors are and reset them. This is done by using a series of tests and protocols to read how the body interprets information.

  • P-DTR can help to identify and correct the issues that is the highest priority to you and your nervous system. This means it is not only helpful at removing the current issue you are dealing with but it also preventing those issues from elevating to the level that causes acute pain in the first place.

Neuro-Kinetic Therapy

  • The body has relationships. Understanding how the anatomy slings relate to each other and affect each other is the goal.

  • A sophisticated form of manual therapy that combines motor control theory and manual muscle testing.

  • The science of motor control theory states that the motor control center in the cerebellum stores all the coordination patterns of the body. It is directed by the limbic system and the cerebral cortex to not only create movement patterns, but also to create substitute movement patterns when we are injured.

  • NeuroKinetic Therapy is an excellent modality in rehabilitation and manual therapy because it not only identifies the cause of pain and dysfunction, but also corrects it very quickly and quite painlessly.

What does a typical NKT session look like?

  • First, you will be scanned using the AO Scan which is magnetic resonance with headphones; you listen to harmonic notes, which is non-invasive and lasts about 10 minutes.

  • In the appointment, your specialist will treat cranial nerves, organs, tendons, ligaments, and muscles.

  • Neurolinguistic programming and eye movement desensitization reset (EMDR) are used for emotional trauma and processing.

  • Patients can say as much or as little as they feel comfortable regarding emotional trauma.

  • You will receive a lot of information from the scans and from your specialist about the inner workings of your body. This form of treatment is not invasive.

About the Devices Used

AO Scan Technology

The AO Scan Technology program is an insightful educational tool that can help you learn about how your body is performing. It communicates with the body using subtle bio-frequencies and electromagnetic signals to identify the areas that may be out of balance. By identifying those areas that may need assistance, you can then make the proper lifestyle changes to optimize your health and reach a state of harmony and balance. See Solex for more information about AO Scanning. You can now schedule to use this device outside of a functional neurology session.

How to interpret the results sent to you:

First, what do the values on your AO Scan reports mean? Your reports will always give you a number between 1-9. 1-4 will equal a diminishing functionality risk, while 6-9 will equal an increasing functionality risk. 5 equals an optimal and balanced system.

These are what the individual numbers mean:

1 & 9 = Critical

2 & 8 = Severe

3 & 7 = Moderate

4 & 6 = Mild

5 = Optimal and Balanced

Second, the percent change (%) equals how much change was received during the optimization. The numbers inside boxes on your PDFs are AFTER correction mode of frequency optimization.

Remember, your reports are all about finding patterns over periods of time, so don't panic if you see some 1s or 9s. Simply continue scanning, track your reports, evaluate your lifestyle, and then determine what course of action to take from there. Stay tuned for more clarification on reports in the future!

*AO Scan Technology is not a medical device. These statements have not been evaluated by the FDA. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.

PEMF Mat

The Pulsed Electromagnetic Field therapy mat offers a range of potential benefits by exposing the body to electromagnetic fields. Some key advantages associated with using PEMF mats include an improved cellular function, enhanced circulation, accelerated recovery, pain management, stress reduction, improved sleep quality, immune system support, bone health, enhanced mood and mental clarity, and a non-invasive and non-pharmaceutical approach. You can now schedule to use this device outside of a functional neurology session.
